The typical presentation for Calcific tendinopathy of the rotator cuff is generalised chronic shoulder pain in adults aged between 40-60 years old.

This shoulder pain is often related to impingement syndrome, whereby the calcific deposit in the rotator cuff can “catch” the acromion (shoulder bone) during flexion and abduction movements of the shoulder past ninety degrees.

Diagnosing calcific tendinopathy is often missed when imaging is not readily available. Therefore, it would be advantageous to see consultant physiotherapist Luke Greatrex, who can complete a thorough physical examination and diagnostic scan to assess the rotator cuff for injuries such as tears, tendinitis, and calcific deposits.
